Mirror Mirror on the Wall

The movie "Mirrors" is definitely not one for the faint hearted.

I mean, man! it is so gross and bloody.

The first act has this man slid his own throat. And if you think that is bad, there is another scene where this lady tore off her own jaw. I had my hands all over my eyes.

This remake of the Korean version of "Into the Mirror" is nothing like the original. The Korean version's success lies on the eerie and creepy mood that capture the audiences' attention. Whereas for the Hollywood remake, I was too traumatized by the nerve racking scenes.

If you think I am exaggerating, go google youtube for the Mirrors trailer and you will get a glimpse of the hair raising scenes. Look for the jaw ripping scene.

Be warned, it is not for the faint hearted.

So you think this is gross? Come to my Biology class. I will show you real horror! Hmm, how can I add photos to my comments? I would love to put some gruesome stuff from Cheri Joan's Classroom. School will never be safe again! Wa ha ha!

You mean you cut up people or ripped off their parts in your biology class? And you take pictures too. Hmm.. I am just curious if you are not afraid of such gruesome sights, why are you afraid of watching horror movies
?

U know, I always feel that watching a horror movie is kinda like getting a ride on the roller coaster. Before the movie or the ride, derez juz this fear that lingers within u and also the feeling of not knowing wat u are gonna get. But despite the fear, u still wanna give it a try, u know dat u juz hafta watch dat movie or go thru that ‘deadly’ roller coaster ride. During the movie, u kinda ‘enjoy’ the thrill of being scared, frightened or even tramatised. Some would choose to use their hands to cover their eyes at the most gruesome scenes of the movie, oh well, maybe leaving a gap between fingers to take a peep, not wanting to miss that ‘juicy’ part of the movie. Some would probably use a shawl as a security blanket :P After the movie or maybe the roller coaster ride, u juz wanna laugh it out or even talked about some unforgettable parts of the adventure. In your mind, u might be thinking…Wow! Wat a ride! Well, glad that I have gone thru a couple of these rides :)

You have and interesting analogy here. I guess for me, some rides are just too ... Er should I say beyond my limit. I would probably puke on these rides, that's why I will never watch "saw", and other movies of such gruesome nature. Call me chicken if you want. :-p

In Mid Summer Night's Dream, Shakespeare wrote..."If music be the food of love, play on." Cheri Joan adds to that..."If music is the root of fears, cover your ears!" Most horror films hype u up with creepy music, in anticipation, u fear that something horrible is going to happen in the next moment. That negativity in that music strikes fear before one even see the scenes of gore. But if u cover your ears and watch that same scene, u will realise it really isn't so bad! In life, sometimes, we have this hunch that something bad may happen, and we allow that music of fear to resound in our minds. Soon, that negativity becomes a self-fulfilling prophecy. Perhaps if we play a happy tune and listen to something light-hearted, the negative scenes of life will not look so bad too!

Wah-Lao! this is too complicated for a simple minded man like me. What I know is whether you cover your ears or not, still got to face the music lah!

But seriously, I do agree with you that sometimes if we maintain our positive outlook, the outcome of the situation might not be so unbearable.
