Bread for treat

I was so bored today that I went to town alone.

I dropped by Daiso, the Japanese $2 shop. I got myself this red kiddish lunch box and a mould to cut out bread into cute shapes like these.
Then I decorated them with cut-out sea weeds and they look like cute little faces.

Egg rolled up

I put to practice what I had learnt from Rika, Japanese rolled egg.

Not very successful, I got only two eggs left and didn't roll it fast enough, as a result, it was very lose. Will try it again to master it.

Chocolate

This was from Siew Boon. She always give us chocolates on Valentine's day.

Going to the movie

Usually after dinner, we would take a short walk and within 5 mins we would arrive.

I couldn't remember how I feel then but I guess I had welcomed it.

First, we would go to the lady sitting in a room with a little window opening to us. We would pay a dollar for two tickets for the front stall seats. The lady would then scribble manually the seat number on the ticket and hand us the movie tickets we had purchased.

The seats were all wooden and we usually would buy the cheapest front stall seat which is close to the screen. The further away from the screen, the more expensive the tickets would be.

And I remembered that the cinema was known as Ocean theater, which is where coffee club is situated now at Siglap.

I remember my father brought me to the movie pretty often as the cinema was a stone throw away from my house.

Today, it was I that brought my father and aunt to the movie. They have not been to one for more than 20 years. With technology taking over almost every aspect of our lives, my father and aunt are pretty much handicapped and they are not able to comprehend how a cinema works now. They are alien to Internet, they do not know how to buy the movie tickets and such threatening environment drives them away from the movies.

I wanted them to have that experience of going to the movies again, to experience the difference in movie going in the 21st century.

When I was a small boy, movie going was beyond me financially. Now movie going is beyond my aged father and aunt as they have not keep up with time and it's progress.

I hope my father and aunt have had a memorable time today.

Oh yes, we went to a Singapore made movie entitled "it's a great great world". A rare movie which recollect lives in the sixties in Singapore and what made this movie special was the many dialects used in the movie which my parent's generation could relate strongly with.

Coach me !

In addition to Just Dance 2, I also got this title from the same shop. This is much cheaper, got it for S$29.

This is actually like a aerobic DVD. It really is not a game per say. Once you click the start button, you don't need the control any more, just follow the coach in the screen. I normally do the 30 min workout and I'm usually spent at the end of the session.

I love the upper body workout cos it works my pecs.

Just Dance 2

I discovered a place to get reasonably priced wii games at Orchard Road, the prime shopping district in Singapore.

I bought this Just Dance 2 for S$49.

I bought this with the intention of sweating it out dancing those tunes.

Most of the dances are rather aerobic in nature. There are big hands and legs movement and after dancing 5 dances, I'm already perspiring.

Since I laid my hands on this, so far I've religiously use it as a form of exercise daily.

I'm determined to buck my sedentary lifestyle!

Red cover

I changed my iPhone cover on the first day of CNY. Other than it's fabulous drawing, I love the texture of my cover.

Machiam Tok Panjang ( Just like long table )

It has been a long time since we gather at Erinna's place.
As one becomes uncle or aunty, gathering of friends becomes sitting around a table surrounded with great food.
It was indeed a sumptuous dinner, specially prepared by Erinna, her mother and in-law. Home cooked food never tasted this best.
On this long dining table, I love the soup and the Lobak ( black stew pork ) best. Of course, the rest of the dishes were all exquisite too.
In the past, the Babas would invite friends, usually the VIPs, for dinner and they would sit around the long table laid with fine home cooked food.

We felt like VIP that night. I'm so fortunate to be part of the Tok Panjang. I felt like VIP served with the best food.

CNY lunch

This was my lunch on the 2nd day of CNY. There were a variety of mushrooms left. I added scallops and an egg to my noodles too. The soup turned out very sweet and u wouldn't realized it was instant noodles.
I found out that this brand of instant noodle is great if you intend to add ingredients to your noodles. The seasoning was not too empowering and it actually compliments and brings out the sweetness of your ingredients.
Great discovery over CNY.

E shopping

It's the second day of CNY and I was home and glad it is a no work day.
I have been feeling my body is physically aging rapidly lately. I usually wake up with stiff joints and aches. Hmm ... Aging is really not a pleasant process.
I'm trying to get back to my excercise routine and thus have been googling the excercise Wii games.
I've just purchased two games online. Selected the Just Dance 2 and 10 minute solution.
Hope to receive them soon and as for now, I'll get back to my wii fit.

花开富贵

It's the first day of the lunar new year and it's the day I'll put on my new attire and go Chinese new year visiting.
And I like to have flowers at home during Chinese new year as it symbolizes abundance in good fortune. This year I got myself these huge yellow chrysanthemum. I just love the bright cheerful yellow. For the Chinese, it's also the royal colour.
May the year ahead be a cheerful and smooth one that's filled with great fortunes.
