Bento Breakfast

When I arrived at my office, I found the familiar Bento on my desk. When I lifted the lid, the delectable aroma of mushrooms met my nose, I was hungry instantly.

This time round, it was fried pasta with button mushrooms cooked in Chinese style. Very tasty and delicious. Again, Siew Boon also provided the ever potent chilli. Really like fireball in the mouth.

I must ask her to get some for me.

Nam Pla Wan dipping sauce

When I was in Bangkok over the Good Friday weekend, a Thai friend recommended this sauce called Nam Pla Wan Dipping Sauce.
It can be bought at the supermarket. It is a little spicy and sweet, and you can taste the shrimp taste. Very tasty and great for dipping your vege sticks in.
Yummy!

Tweety birds

I was reading newspapers in the living room when I saw Sunny looking really engrossed out of the glass door towards the balcony.
When I checked it out, there were a few tweety birds perching on the branches of the bamboos. I could here a chorus of light tweety choir.
I love the green of my little garden in my balcony. There are passion fruits and now it even attacts little birdies to sing for us.
We are going to reorganized our garden a little so that we could have some stools and table out there. Looking forward to sip my coffee and read my book out there with the nature.

Another Bento

Another Bento left on my table by Siew Boon. She gave me so much bee hoon, hmm no wonder I'm overweight.

I am overweight

I just got my health check report and I am really disappointed that I am labelled an overweight. Any blind man can tell that I'm overweight from the layers of hardened fats round my mid-section. I told myself many times that I must start running, I guess this time round I've no choice but to force myself to do it.

铁树开花

看到铁树开花是不是要走运了呢?

Kampong Toilet

I went to a nursery to look at some plants last Sunday. Half way throught, I needed to go to the toilet
The toilet reminded me of a kampong (village) toilet.
When I closed the door, I was weary that there could be creapy crawlies behind the wooden door which was a common sight in a kampong toilet Thank goodness, there was none.
The squatting toilet bowl was very clean indeed and that was really different from a toilet in the kampong, which in the seventies was just a bucket. The bucket would be emptied every morning.

Most of us are living in affluence now that a sight such as this is one of the past. We should be grateful that we are living in comfort everyday. What else could we complain about?

Let's give thanks to every little thing that has made our life such a wonderful one.

Melty Kiss

I chanced upon this Royce look alike chocolate. This melty kiss by Meiji is very creamy and has a light rum taste as I've chosen the dark rum flavour.

It is not too sweet but if you eat too many at a time, the creaminess can be overbearing.

At about $3.50, it is very worth it for more than 10 individually wraped chocolates.
I would say it goes well with a cuppa coffee.

Fried Rice Paradise

Siew Boon left a Bento on my desk this morning. When I opened it, the golden yellow fried rice sprinkled with a kailedescope of green and orange greeted my eyes.

The chilli which accompanied the rice was superbly potent. It was like fireball in the mouth.

Like a glutton, I gobbled three quarters of it for breakfast, leaving the rest for tea. Ha Ha!

Coffee Bean by Dao

A Thai friend brought us to this very nice restaurant called Coffee Bean by Dao. The ambience was excellent and the food was really good. I was so impressed with the cream pasta, see pic below, die die must try:

I've attached a link to their official website, just click on the title of this blog entry above.
You'll never regret, remember, die die must go eat, ok?

Ten Face Hotel

We stayed at Ten Face Hotel. This boutique hotel only has suites and at $6000 Baht ($258) per room night for a two bedroom suite which accomodated four of us, that worked out to only S$64.50 per person per night.

It has two bedrooms, a living room, a dining room, a kitchen and even washing machine to do our laundry.

The suite was huge, I think it was equivalent to a four room HDB flat. It was a very comfortable stay for us and the location wise was also quite central, it was situated three BTS stops away from Siam Paragon.

A nice boutique hotel which is worth a try.

Red

We were in Bangkok from 1 to 4 Apr 2010. It was a shopping and eating trip, and of course to pamper ourselves with the massages.

On our third day there, the red camp moved to the major shopping district at the Siam area rendering the major shopping malls at the Siam and Chit Lom area closed.

Luckily, unlike what is happening now, it was a peaceful protest. They parked their vehicles in the middle of the main road and sat there.

Although the protest had distrupted our shopping at Paragon and Central @ Chit Lom, nevertheless, we are thankful that it was not violent then.

Thank God for that.

A shop with character

It is my dream to own a little cafe which also carries merchandise designed by me. Just like this picture which I saw in a Japanese magazine. It has some kind of character.

Nude

I bought this from Bangkok. These little balls are breath fresherner. Though they are so tiny, but Man! They are so powerful. When they burst in your mouth, you'll feel like a waterfall of mint fresh water just gush through your throat.

Highly recommended. You can get it from Boots.

Why it is call Nude, I really don't know.

Love food

My ex-colleague left this on my table. It was a gift from Turkey.

They were fruits stuff with nuts. I love the one on the extreme left, It was walnut stuffed in fig. Yummy, love the nutty taste and the sweetness of the fig.

Thanks so much Maggie for remembering me.

Business Class

Hey! Finally I had a chance to take SIA Business Class.

There was plenty of leg space, I couldn't even touch the seat infront with my legs fully stretched.

The food was good, infact delicious. They would serve the appetizer first followed with the main course. There was also a selection of bread that you could choose from.

I enjoyed the experience, it was definitely great to be well taken care of.

Sakura

It's spring time now in Japan and also a time for Sakura to blossom.
I realized, a pity after so many years, that along both sides of the road just outside my apartment are lined with these trees that bear pink flowers that from far look like Sakura. The flowers will fill the entire tree turning a major portion of the tree into Sakura pink. There are a few that bear white flowers.
These tree only bear flowers around the same time as Sakura and will only last for a short time. Now the whole road is painted pink by these trees.
It's a pity I haven't realized this in the past. I guess I must watch and appreciate the trees more.
Are you watching nature? Or just taking them for granted and like me, miss the beauty of nature.
