Transformation

This was initially a failed project. The sewing was bad and the pouch was slanted.

Tonight, I was thinking of how to improve on it. I took out some of the threads then re-sew the base to correct the slanted-ness. Then I added some accessories to give it some design.

Now it look more presentable.

Greenies

My balcony is now filled with splatter of green. Just bought a pot of Spider plant for my balcony. Greens really calm one's mood.

I just love looking at the plants and they do make the concrete pigeon hole living a more pleasant one.

My very first ceramic bowl

Finally completed my first ceramic bowl. This was done with guidance from my instructor. It is still very raw in terms of skills and finishing. I was a little disappointed with the glaze.

There is so much more about glazing that I have yet to find out, that's why the effect of the glazing was far from what I have wanted it to be.

Nevertheless, art is about learning through the process. I really have to persist in it, perhaps one day, I would be able to come up with a piece that have character.

Zumba

Bought the Zumba Wii game for $50 on impulse.

A reward for myself using my bonus money.

To me, I'm using Wii games as an excercise to sweat it out. I think I'll find it hard to follow cos I'm not that nimble. But I'm game to try it out.

First quilt project

Finally completed my quilted table cloth.

Far from perfect but I'm glad that I managed to complete it.

Not very difficult but took a bit of time to complete.

Oishi gift from Ubud Bali

These was brought from Ubud Bali.

And I had them with Pullman white loaf and it was heaven.

Thanks Yoshi and Rika for bringing such wonderful gift. It was really wonderful to have spent time with them and I enjoyed every second of it. Wanna thank my gang of friends who also made time to have dinner with them together. It heartened me to see my friends to show hospitality, Singaporean style, to Yoshi and Rika.

Looking forward to visiting them in Osaka in June.

Project success

Determine to get it right, I tried again and this time round, it was not bad. However, the size is kind of big.

Making art requires careful thinking in every step. Else, after spending so much time, the end product will be less than ideal.

A failed project

Feel lousy!

This project failed.

After a break of quite a while from sewing, I have kind of forgotten the procedures.

I have to refer back to the YouTube again and even so, the product was badly finished.

Kind of upset with myself.

To excel in something, one really have to spend a considerably long period of time in excelling in a skill. At work, also have different view with my bosses regarding professional development. I personally feel that making someone do something he is not strong in doesn't make him improve much. I believe in allowing the person to spend time in the skill and through time, the person will excel in it.

I guess I should devote more time in sewing.

2013

Fast forward 8 years, we met again in Singapore. Do we look the same? Some have change a lot, some still look the same.

Some have multiplied, some have expanded.

And Joyce suggested we meet again in Japan in 2015.

So hopefully, we are able to take a group photo then.

2005

This photo was taken in 2005 when we toured Osaka.

A bottle of Love

What a surprise!

This is from Rika all the way from Japan. And they are handmade. Did you see my name on the cookie?

This is so much more precious than anything money can buy. A bottle full of love.

And believe me, they are Oishi!

An old tin box

This is a tin box which we found in a drawer in my dad's place.

It belongs to my late grandmother.

She used to put her valuables or treasured stuff in it an locked it in her drawer. Now only her IC sits in there.

I took it back and put in my drawer.

Perhaps, someone will find this in my drawer when I pass on.

Half a century, almost

During CNY while at my dad's place, we found this necklace which was traditionally worn by kids in the past. It was something which my grandma had asked from a temple for me and it was supposedly to bless me.

As my dad's house has been enblocked, we took away our stuff which were still kept there for almost half a century.

Half a century! My God, how time flies.
