Apple in the coffee

I'm a coffee lover and what can be more surprising when you find an apple in your coffee.

I must learn to do this so when I serve my guest coffee at home, they would be pleasantly surprise too!

Homemade 麻酱面

My first time making sesame sauce noodle and it was a failure.

I shouldn't have used italian pasta as the noodle, the taste was just not right. Then the sesame sauce I used was too light, the sesame flavour wasn't prominent enough. The carrot and cucumber were shredded too fine bits and they turned watery.

Not too yummy but I'm going to make it again soon. 

New salad recipe

Fill a bowl with leaves of Butterhead, then sprinkle some Hei Bee Hiam and add black vinegar sauce.
Yummy!

Saturday Breakfast

I bought two bottles of salad sauce yesterday. One was sesame flavour and the other was black vinegar flavour.
I used the black vinegar sauce on my leaves of green butterhead this morning. It had a light vinegar sourish taste and not too salty. I love it cos it didn't make me thirsty after that. Highly recommended for those who love savoury food.

The toast with Crabtree's Organic Country Lemon Curd were heavenly with fresh toast fragrant and light lemon taste. And of course, they went well with my cuppa coffee from Nespresso.

Simple stuff and I was already feeling contented and blissful

Yummy Passion

My first time eating passion fruit, and it's from my garden. It's so amazing!
The fruit is very light, felt like it's hollow. The outer covering is very hard, it was not easy to cut into half.
The fruit was a little sourish but tasted really refreshing.
I love passion fruit.
There are two more in my garden, hurray!

Passion

The passion fruit in our garden is ripe and ready for harvesting, wonder how it is going to taste like.

Spraying Sunny

The other night, to our horror, we found a tick on Sunny's neck. It grew to the size of a green bean, I wonder how long and how much blood has it sucked out of Sunny.

Poor Sunny, God knows how long has he endured the invasion of the blood sucker. When we brought Sunny to the vet for injection a few days later, the vet found more ticks. Man! I can't even see any thing on Sunny.

The vet recommended we spray Sunny with Frontline to rid the ticks and fleas. So today, we hooded Sunny with the "space hood" and put him on the chair at the balcony so that he had no where to run.

Derrick sprayed him and now I am wondering whether Derrick had sprayed enough. Sunny is still licking his feet and other parts of his body.

Sigh!

Bak Kut Teh I

Leong Kee Bak Kut Teh ( Geylang ) now has opened a branch at Beach Road.
In the past, everytime the crave for Bak Kut Teh came, we would endure the bad traffic and parking situation at Geylang.
Ha! Ha! Beach Road is a better location. There will always be parking at the Funiture Mall across the road.
If you have not tried 梁记肉骨茶 (Leong Kee Bak Kut Teh), then you must make your way down to Beach Road.
Give it a try

Bak Kut Teh II

One of the reasons why I like Leong Kee Bak Kut Teh is that the dishes are served in claypot which is heated till the soup is boiling hot.
The claypot retains the heat and even till the end of your meal, the soup is still hot.

Bak Kut Teh III

Another reason why I like Leong Kee Bak Kut Teh is the garlic. As you can see here, I can eat so much garlic.

The Perfect Egg

These humble eggs.
But to boil the perfect half boil egg is not as easy as you thought.

Last week, I just over cooked my half boil eggs.

The perfect half boil egg,
no bit will be left raw, nor cooked.
When you break the egg shell, the whole egg will slip out.
The egg white is all liquid and smooth,
the egg yolk still intact as a whole,
but when you break it, the yellowish yolk will flow out.

The taste, yummy!

Today, I tasted the perfect half boil eggs at Ya Kun @ Parkway.

Bloody Sunny

I returned home on Tuesday night and like usual, Sunny greated me with his barking and jumping with excitement. The only difference was that he was less energetic that night.

Soon he started vomitting, foamy stuff and quite a few times. He was like that for a few nights. What was worrying was I sensed that he was less energetic and he was like sitting down very often. He would ran and then suddenly sit on his backside. Was he feeling discomfort? Was he feeling pain? Was he feeling faint?

Questions ran in my mind and that was when I decided to take him to the veterinarian.

He was active in the clinic barking at the other dogs and strangers. Rather embarrassing.

When the vet examined him, she noticed that his gum was unusually pale and asked me whether it is normal for Sunny. Ha! I told her I never pay attention to the colour of his gum.

She advised me that one of the reasons for pale gum could be low blood count and if it was really a case of very low blood count and not treated, the dog might die. That was why I decided, on the recommendation of the vet, to have a blood test for Sunny.

The assistant had to poked him twice cos the first time she didn't manage to get enough blood from Sunny's hind leg as Sunny kicked the needle out and blood stained his fur.

She took from the front leg again and this time managed successfully with the help of another assistant.

We waited for the blood test result and every thing was normal, so the vet treated him for suspected stomach upset and gave him two japs.

Sunny was brave and stoic. He didn't whine at all.

He is the kind who will bear with the pain and discomfort. Sometmes, how I wish he could just communicate in some way to me.

That explains the pink bandage on his foot.
