Bags in book

I received this nice bags craft book from Derrick who bought it from Taiwan. There are some interesting ideas and the bags are quite Zakka.

I also love the layout of the books and the photography is indeed quite artistic too.

Got this hard cover book from PageOne bookstore, "conceptual drawings from the world's most influential designers".

Handle the volumes, organize the surface ...
all this means first to look, and then
to observe and finally perhaps to discover ...

Le Corbusier

My first e-book

This is the first e-book I read from my kindle. The author, a Christian, had built her story around two Christian families. A light hearted book to read, somewhat like a romance comedy.

E-books

Finally, I learnt from Jessie how to download Alwaysvpn and managed to download 14 free e-books into my kindle.
I spent my evening reading my e-books from my kindle. Reading is made easy, in the sense that meaning of words could be checked immediately at a touch of some buttons.
When I'm tired of one book, I could switch to another very conveniently.
The equipment is very light and so it is not so tiring holding it up to read in bed.
Just wish there were free magazines to download.

The hidden forces that shape our decision

I'm now reading this book about what shape our decisions when we make a purchase.

This is really an interesting read.

Although the author, Dan Ariely, describe his research experiments, they were interestingly captivating.

Do you know why you are willing to pay S$5 for a cup of Starbuck coffee when you can get one in a coffeeshop for S$1?

Want to know, go read this book.

This is a magazine which advocates creating a lifestyle around nature.

Very Zen layout, and I always get a feel of calmness and serenity when I browse this magazine.

Reading under the sun

When I'm at the pool on weekend, I'm always too lazy to swim. Most of the time, I'll read something.

I'm reading a book about Audrey Hepburn. Cheri loan it to me. The book is about Audrey's perspective of life. Great for light reading.

A child called "It"

I've seen this book many times and finally I've got a chance to read it.

Reading this book is not easy cos I would pent up such anger and saddness in my heart.

It is a true account of the life of Dave Pelzer, who as a child of tender age of about five went through the living hell of what was know as the third most serious child abuse case in USA.

I could not figure out how a woman who could torture her own biological son to such inhumane extreme. You have to read the book to know how bad the physical, psychological and emotional hurt she inflicted on her son who whom she had given life to, yet with her own hands trying to take it away in such bizzare and wicked ways.

I want to share a part of the book which depict how much despair the little boy had at that point of suffering:

" When I fell asleep, my soul became consumed in a black void. I no longer awoke in the mornings refreshed; I was tired and told myself that I had one day less to live in this world. I shuffled through my chores, dreading every moment of every day. With no dreams, I found that words like hope and faith were only letters, randomly put together into something meaningless - words only for fairy tales."

Excuse me, are you a model?

I was in the library yesterday and stumbled upon this book. For those who don't know who Bonny Hicks was, you are probably young, gorgeous and at your prime now.

This book was published in 1990. That's almost two decades ago.

When they launched this book, someone from my varsity invited her to our faculty to talk about her book. It was such a Hoo-Haa then. She was only 21 then. It is a pity that she did not survive the plane crash a couple of years ago.

I borrowed the book as I was curious about what she had written about. My intuitive self reckoned that there must be interesting juicy stuff to read about. She appeared to be rather matured in her writing for a person her age. Perhaps the fashion industry had hastened her development. I personally felt she was really courageous to reveal her love life and her intimacy with various men. On the whole, my personal take is that she was candid and real in her biography.
